One of the city's finest restaurants. Fight those parking woes (particularly bad at peak evening hours) and be patient with the slow service when you visit, because you will be rewarded with a menu that offers adventure for the daring and comfort for those who prefer the familiar. The elegance at this open-through-the-day (even for an eggs, waffles, pancakes breakfast served until 11:15 AM), contemporary and clean-lined eatery is understated. It has an all-day menu, well-stocked bar, alfresco dining on the first floor and even a deli selling desserts, meat and cheese. Chef Gresham Fernandes teases big effects and full flavours out of simple dishes. Skip the average ravioli in favour of promising new additions to the menu - Smoked Spanish Paprika Chicken Burger, Grilled Peppercorn, Pan-fried John Dory, Steamed Pomfret, Seared Bassa, Lamb Shanks, grilled Pork Chops, grilled Tenderloin Steak, Salt Water Cafe Michioe Salad, Pepper-seared Tenderloin Carpaccio with marinated mushrooms, Roasted Potato Gnocchi and their Cheese Plate. Take your pick from Tiramisu, flourless Chocolate Cake, Chocolate Fondant, Hazelnut Mousse and Creme Brulee for the sweet finish. P.S. Happy Hours start at 11:00 AM and go on till 4:00 PM; the next three hours after that (4:00 PM to 7:00 PM) is time for all-you-can-drink Sangria at Rs. 450. From Wednesdays to Saturdays, 11:00 PM to 1:00 AM, is unlimited drinks for Rs. 694 - that’s quite a lot of choice for those fond of their tipple!

Even though I work in Bandra now, I still don't spend much time hanging out here. I thought I would – working here was my way to check out the cool new restaurants and bars and meet friends who are too lazy to cross the sea link (yes I know it works both ways). By the time I’m done with work, I just want to get to my sofa (I mean bed) and I still have an hour to drive to get there. No way I'm hanging around for longer than I need to.
It just so happened that a friend was down from Dubai and everyone we had to meet was north of the border (my border – not the geographical one). We decided to go to Salt Water Café for an early dinner and then see where the night took us.
I, being on a perpetual diet, was quite happy to go to a place I had eaten at before, and knew what I could get. I'm also pretty persuasive, and I manage to get most people to order starters I can eat. I was too hungry to remember to take pictures of everything, and when you find out what I ate, you will understand why.

Step in at any time of the day & this place has to be buzzing .. From their juices to coffees to desserts.. Everything is perfect.. The pesto cream pasta, chicken sausages, chocolate croissant & omelettes are my fixed orders.. The ambience is lovely - very European. Staff is attentive & courteous. Love the set up

Just when I had begun to feel that I had checked out every menu in Bandra, I found out that Salt Water Caf?Ÿ?? had launched a new menu. The following weekend my best friend and I went to check out the new menu of the caf?Ÿ?? that we both loved going to since it launched. On reading the menu we realized that even though they had retained some of the old favorites, their new additions were a tad more experimental which was just what Bandra needed! We started our meal with the Surf & Turf Carpaccio & the Crab Cakes. The crab cakes had a bit of a kick to it and came with a salsa on the side which complimented it perfectly! For mains we had the 8 hour braised Australian Lamb Shanks and Pan Seared Rawas with Mustard Butter. The rawas was cooked just right and was not chewy at all. And the mustard butter sauce complimented the fish brilliantly. The meat on the lamb shanks really looked like it had been cooked for 8 hours, it was just falling off the bone and I couldn?›ƒ?ªƒ?›t think of any other place where lamb shanks were served this yummy. Since neither my best friend nor I are dessert people, we skipped dessert. All in all, this was one of the best meals we?›ƒ?ªƒ?›ve had in a while. Cheers to the chef at Salt Water Caf?Ÿ??!
