Good news for Bhandupites - a new branch of Golden Star Thali has opened here! Unlimited Thali for Rs. 310 everyday except Sunday (Rs. 340)! A spiffed up modern decor combining the traditional paintings of turbans with colours spanning the spectrum greet you as you step into Charni Road’s thali joint. Rajasthani paintings of puppets, in special hand-crafted work adorn the irregularly shaped eatery. It’s simple, unpretentious and always finding reason to celebrate life. Rajasthan Rasoi Utsav in the first two months of the year; in August, it’s Dehati Utsav and two months later, Navratri and Diwali Utsavs follow. Golden Star offers a thali with a combination of Gujarati and Rajasthani vegetarian cuisines including seasonal specialities like Undhiyu and Aamras. Although the menus change with every meal, popular sweets are available on specific days (Jalebis on Mondays and Fridays, Kesar Puran Poli on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Malpuas on Wednesdays and Saturdays); two per thali except for Sunday, the only day they serve exclusive sweets (Bengali too) and offer three instead of two. Monday through Saturday Thali, comes with three farsaans, two sweets, four vegetables, rice, dal, Kadhi, Dal Bati Churma, Khichdi, three types of chapatis (Wheat, Jowar, Makki, and puris too), Chhaas, papad, achaar, and salad a even a bottle of mineral water. An entire Tiffin (Mon–Sat: Rs. 720, Sunday: Rs. 820) can be shared by five people and a half Tiffin (Mon-Sat: Rs. 490 and Sunday: Rs. 690) by three people. They have an individual lunch box for Rs. 125 which includes dal, two farsaans, two sweets, two vegetables, rice, five chapatis, achaar, papad, and salad. Mukhwas too.rn
