As soon as you step in, the crab family greets you from its glass cage at the entrance. Ratnagiri - "Coastal Cuisine" reads its menu. Yet it serves much more than the expected Konkan, Malwani fare. The once famous Ghasitaram of Chembur is now replaced by this nicely done coastal speciality joint that offers comfortable open-air or AC seating options. While the variety of coastal definitely does dominate the menu, there is ample North Indian and Chinese fare to choose from also. The Pomfret Fry Thali is served with a nicely spiced traditional curry and rice. Of the other accompaniments, the chapati is half-cooked and not fresh. The refreshing Sol Kadi and Coconut Chutney are winners amongst them all. The Thalipeeth is slightly more crisp than usual, but good. Despite a non-peak hour, service was a little slow even though there was a plethora of staff standing chatting amongst themselves.
