Live jazz, retro and classic rock fans, you've got a happy surprise waiting at Colaba's elegant Tamarind - an oasis of calm for forty years. Walk in on Wed-Mon (7.30pm-11.30pm) and jive to Renita's retro and old-world tunes. Order Lava Chicken, their signature starter, or Pineapple Salt-Pepper, their hot-selling vegetarian dish. Plenty more on the menu. Pizzas, pastas and sandwiches rub shoulders with Murgh Makhni and Handi Gosht. Check out the recently introduced Drunken Chicken and Blackened Chicken. Seafood and squid dishes are also there. There is an attempt at some Thai curries (avoidable). The only dish I find missing is my favourite Maggis Farm (grilled breast of chicken, stuffed with asparagus and cheese). Tamarind serves good VFM buffets (Breakfast: Rs. 350; Lunch: Rs. 550; Dinner: Rs. 650) too.
