Excellensea is an up-market, first-floor version of the ground-floor Bharat. From Jumbo Crabs to home-style Gassi, this dual "identity-wala" restaurant serves it all! If you're looking for swanky surroundings, Italian crystal and special American microwave-able plates to eat out of, walk up to the first floor (past the tanks of crabs) to The Excellensea, and you will have a choice of not just the Mangalorean Prawn Gassi with idlis, Fish Curry, Squid in Coconut and all kinds of Fish Fry, but also Jumbo Crabs and Lobsters. Sit in the air-conditioned level only if you don't mind the low-ceiling and fish tanks all around you while you eat fish. They have candlelight dinners too. I used to love the non-airconditioned, homespun, simple Bharat Lunch Home on the ground floor (which they have since air-conditioned). It's my must-visit for fine Mangalorean fish food Prawn Gassi, in which I lovingly dunk fluffy idlis (made to Pushpalata Salian's recipe) and also their large, Surmai Fry slices

I have been to Excellensea a couple of times now. Their fish preparations are absolutely top notch.Mangalorean Prawn Gassi with idlis, Fish Curry, Squid in Coconut are truely splendid. Though the place is bit cramped but the crowd is good and the service is pretty decent.
