Come for your slice of VFM Bengali heaven. My favourites are the Hilsa Bhapa, Hilsa Paturi, Beckti Kaliya and also the Aloo Posto and Shukhto. Wind up with Chhena Payesh, Rasogulla or Rasmalai. A clean but superb, value-for-money, authentic Bengali meal. And that too in the chaotic Crawford Market. A coir-matted narrow staircase leads you up to the terrace, where a red-and-white striped awning covers a green-carpeted area. I recommend you go for dinner (lunch can get too warm and noisy). Check out the complex styles of the light Jhol, the poppy-seed Posto, banana-leaf Paturi and the Bhapa Doi. Of course, the ever-present mustard and more. Do also try the full-bodied Muslim-influenced Chicken/Lamb Rezala, biryanis and VFM thalis. It's their gigantic signature Bhojan Thali with six to seven veg items and five non-veg items, which they vouch for. There are also other regular thalis that you can order, like the Niramish Bhojan (Veg Thali Rs. 160), Amish Bhojan (Non-veg Thali Rs. 190) and Howrah Signature Thali (Rs. 375).

I love to have fish and in search of the same I reached Howrah last week. The big menu of the restaurant has many things. I ordered Hilsa Bhapa, Beckti Kaliya and Aloo Posto. The food was surprisingly good as in Mumbai finding a Bengali food is quite difficult. I find the place pretty affordable with good ambiance. Planning to visit Howrah again next week, to try some thalis.

You feel pure Bengali taste in Mumbai at Howrah. They have yummy preparations from fish, prawns, Jhol, poppy-seed Posto and Paturi . This place is good for dinner's as it gets quite warm and noisy during lunch hours. They serve quick, and food quality is
