Robust Chicken Masala Fry overflows from the metal dish, barefoot waiters in dusty brown uniforms bustle around in the formica table-and-bench eatery. It's small, sweaty and warm, and the most expensive Fish Thali with pomfret is for Rs. 160 (with roti) and Rs.175 (with vada). The Chicken Masala Fry, a lusty deep-brown masala-rich rendition of chicken, is the most popular here. Prawn Masala with Roasted Coconut and the Bheja Fry are okayish. The rest is greasy, overfried and leaves a lot to be desired. P.S. Do also check out the Mutton Thali (Rs. 125 with chapati; Rs. 140 with vada), Chicken Thali (Rs. 120 with chapati; Rs. 135 with vada), Shakahari Thali (Rs. 65 with roti; Rs. 70 with vada).

Last week I came to know about Hotel Purva Pangat, Maharastrian Restaurant, from a friend. I visited there with couple of people a day before. We had Robust Chicken Masala Fry, Fish Thali and Rotis. Looking at the presentation, we all thought food would be great, but when we tasted it was just average. The ambiance was average too. For me Hotel Purva Pangat was just an average place to visit.
