Mohan Rakesh's Sahitya Akademi Award winning play Adhe Adhure is a modern-day classic about a middle class family on the brink of collapse. Savitri, a middle-aged woman, is dissatisfied with her circumstances-an unemployed son, a promiscuous teenaged daughter, and a husband who fails to provide her emotional and financial security. She seeks to fulfil herself in extramarital relationships, only to realise that all men are the same. The play takes a powerful and unflinching look at marriage, and explores the themes of fragmentation and incompleteness at the individual, familial and social levels. The play is written by Mohan Rakesh and directed and produced by noted theatre personality Lillete Dubey.
