Gangor is an Italian film directed by Italo Spinelli and starring Adil Hussain, Samrat Chakrabarti, Priyanka Bose, and others. The story revolves around Upin, a well known Indian photographer, who while reporting on tribal women in Purulia, West Bengal is transfixed by the breast of a woman named Gangor, glimpsed as she nurses her baby outdoors. He immortalises her in a shot that lands on all the front pages. A scandal ensues and Gangor is ostracised, helpless against the men in the village who rape her. Upin is wrecked with guilt and sacrifices everything he has to help Gangor, but in the end it is she who finds the courage to report the rapists to the police. This film is based on the short story Choli Ke Pichhe by Mahashweta Devi. The film will be screened with English sub-titles.
