No band has had a greater influence or created as indelible an effect on the Indian rock scene as Indus Creed. The trailblazing band set the stage for what we recognise today as the definitive rock movement in India: unshackled, pathbreaking, well - produced original music embodying the spirit of free expression and individuality. The award - winning band have a stack of historic achievements:
They toured the length and breadth of India, the UK and the Middle East. They redefined the concept of live performance in India with their tightly rehearsed and slickly produced concerts. They recorded three highly successful albums that kickstarted original rock music in India. Their third album (titled Indus Creed), which was recorded in Los Angeles, set a new benchmark for music in India. Indus Creed enjoy a bunch of 'firsts': They were the first rock band from India to play at Peter Gabriel's prestigious WOMAD festival. They were the first ever Indian act to feature on MTV.
They were also the first Indian artists for whom MTV produced a "Rockumentary." Indus Creed made rock history in India when MTV flew down GN'R guitar player Slash to jam with Indus Creed at the channel's launch. They also performed with Bon Jovi to over 40,000 people in Bombay. The band won numerous awards for their music videos, including the Asia - wide MTV Viewers' Choice Award for their song "Pretty Child" which was also ranked the 9th - best video that year, competing with the likes of Madonna, Pearl Jam and Michael Jackson. Indus Creed were anointed Best Indian Band by Channel V.
They recently released their highly awaited new album Evolve on Universal Records. The album features the band's trademark high - on - energy, big - on - melody style instilled with a very contemporary sound and production. Indus Creed like to describe their sound as "LARGE AND LOUD." Never ones to think small, they promise to set a whole new standard for rock in India.
