Another new location, this time in Malad, proves that Mumbaikars love robust and chatpata Indo-Chinese fare. There are special sections for vegetarians at these pleasant, large and bright restaurants with Chinese paintings and table-bench furniture. At all five locations, they serve up generous portion sizes overflowing with spices (too much at times; pair with a drink like Long Island Iced Tea) in dishes like Burnt Chilli Rice, Exotic Hot Wok (veg) and Burnt Hot Wok Chicken. Crab in Schezuan and Burnt Chilli Sauce or Schezuan Noodles? Chilli Pepper Chicken or Butter Garlic Prawns? It's this variety and the excellent desserts (Death by Chocolate and Chocolate Mud Cake) that keep these cheery eateries buzzing. Our pick? Fortune Rice and Roast Chilli Chicken. Cap it off with Sizzling Brownie, heaped generously with ice cream or Rocky Road. As this book goes to press, 5 Spice is planning to open yet another outlet in Borivali.

This is a great place for dining out. Food is pretty good, portions are large and priced reasonably. The overall ambience is quite fine too. I especially love the dessert menu- delicious stuff. This one is a place definitely worth trying out.

Not that I am complaining but all I have to say is "Come on guys! it's really hot in here"
Yes! You guessed right. This branch of '5 spice' is not air-conditioned & if you are planning to eat something hot & spicy then I suggest you think over.
All in all it's a Paisa vasool in case you are really hungry & have nowhere to go.
