Plonked on the third colour of Ghatkopar’s glittering R City Mall, this one serves plenty of cuisines in its bowl... Chinese, Thai, Indonesian, Malaysian, Japanese and Burmese… to name a few. Predictable red-lantern decor, Chinese and Japanese characters and symbols collaged on the wallpaper et al. Great place for VFM Malaysian and Indonesian cuisines that are few and far between in Mumbai. Thai Lemon Grass Prawns jump off the menu; it’s also a chef pick. Consider Vietnamese Sugarcane Chicken, Burmese Grilled Fish Cakes and Filipino Spring Rolls! For the vegans, Japanese Potato Cakes (Karroke) are recommended while the usual suspects — dumplings, satay, wontons and spring rolls — are available for those not in an adventurous mood. For the mains, do not miss out on the Malaysian Roti Canai — chicken gravy with a coconut base, served with two flaky parathas that are crispy, layered and melt in your mouth. Orange Chicken is another speciality and can be enjoyed with Burnt Chilli Garlic Rice or even plain Steamed Rice. Malaysian Penang Curry and Burmese Khaukswe are highly recommended as well. For more of the exotic and rare, order a spicy Malaysian Sizzler, Mongolian Sizzler, Thai Lemon Grass Prawns Sizzler or even a Japanese Chicken Teriyaki Sizzler! To do justice to your palate, try one cuisine at a time and visit several times! P.S. Ask for their Set Menus, Mondays through Thursdays, in Veg (Rs 199) and Non-veg (Rs 255).

Pan Asian food is the specialty of The Bowl House and for me this is the place where I get superb Malaysian Penang Curry, Satay and Burmese Grilled Fish Cakes. Surprisingly, the food of this restaurant is economically rated and I just love the way they have made up the interior on The Bowl House.

The Bowl House has covered Chinese, Indonesian, Thai, Japanese, Burmese, Malaysian, in short the best of oriental cuisine.
This quite economical restaurant has a number of mouth watering dishes such as Japanese Potato Cakes (Karroke), chicken gravy with a coconut base, Malaysian Penang Curry and Burmese Khaukswe.
The Bowl House is just the perfect bowl that serves yummie food at low cost.
