Fabulous surprises, traditional flavours and authentic recipes delight as I pop in here for a recheck, as the book goes to press. Here’s a vegetarian’s idea of bliss — the traditional Thacker’s Gujarati Thali against the backdrop of the beautiful sea served on the first floor of Dilip and Jayshree Thacker’s Marine Drive, floor-to-ceiling glass-walled restaurant. Start with the à la carte popular chaats... Paani Puri, Sevpuri and Dahi Batata Puri in particular. Go for the à la carte choices of handkerchief-thin steamed Panki and flavoursome dense Handvo and Patra. Dal Dhokli too. The Unlimited Thali at `290 is a delight, I trip out on crunchy farsaans, well-made Undhiyu, flavoursome Aloo Raswala, the perfect sweetness in the Surti Kadhi and Dal and a delightful Turia Patra. The thali serves up limited sweets… velvety Shrikand and Rabadi. Chaas, pulao, puranpoli, puris, et al. The only disappointments are the lack of Jowar and Bajra Rotis, Osaman Lachki Dal and jalebis. North Indian options (not my favourite) and Pizza Pasta served here too. All reasonably good, but give me the super Gujju food here anyday. Any wonder the restaurant is always packed? Enjoy the beautiful, airy, daylight-bathed ambience.
PS: Want to plan your party here? Ground floor’s a banquet hall.

Family came to Mumbai for first time after i shifted and since they eat only at Only Veg Serving Restaurants, this place came to my mind... Since heard a lot about this place, wanted to take them...
Location is on Chowpatty so reaching the place was not troublesome (Travelling in train from Andheri)...
As we reached around 8, the place was quite empty (unsual), we got the table easily.
Food: Since, it was dinner time, we tried out the A la Carte didnt go for the thali...
Starters were good as well as the main course.. Food was really nice along with the service.. But found the restaurant little expensive (may be located at SOBO)... Overall a good experience we had
