My treasure hunt continues. I enjoy both…from Rs 180 a icecream scoop to less than Rs 140 a Seafood thali. We dash across trafficked roads near Goregaon, East, station and dart into a long narrow passage and upto the first floor into a spartan, irregular shaped, no frills eatery. Whoa! what a rush of freshness and flavour be it the fried Bombil, pomfret or surmai or Tisrya. Its coconutty gravy base brims with freshness of coconut and hand pounded masalas. Freshest of seafood which the owner Narendra Galwanker buys himself. Yatin Deshpande, who leads me here is a London qualified, hair designer, make up artist and cosmetologist (done over 1,800 print and film assignments) also makes wigs (on a non-profit basis) for cancer patients.Though the kolambi bhaat is over spicy, Yatin informs me that one can request for modulation of spice levels.

The place is a little hard to find, tucked away in a small bylane on the 1st Floor led by a flight of stairs.
The place is simple, clean and very basic.
We ordered Bombil Fry and Prawns Fry. The first one was excellent and the second was just about good.
Then we ordered a Surmai Thali. It was very, very good. The quantity was really great and amazing food.
Finally, we ordered kheer. Which is the only thing that was not upto the mark. It was ok. Avoid the kheer.
Our bill came upto Rs. 500. Two people.
VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Note: The ambiance is very basic but totally clean. And, people will share your table.

Satkar Rice Plate House is not at all a fancy, frilly place and the best it serves is seafood at a reasonably low price.
Fried pomfret, bombil, surmai and tisrya are lovely and for spice lovers kolambi bhaat is great. For good seafood Satkar Rice Plate House is just the place to be.
