An old favourite of Bollywood stars, the grey-, gold- and beige-hued Sampan, now located in Juhu's Novotel, sets itself apart by delivering a good balance between light Cantonese and fiery Schezwan styles. The crisp and done-to-perfection Chau Chu Prawns (favourite of the Roshan family) spiked with green chilli and garlic are as good as ever. The pedestrian-sounding Mushroom on Toast (Amitabh Bachchan's favourite) is actually a superbly delightful, crisp yet light and tasty starter. Beans with Red Pepper is overcooked, but Prawn Sui Mai served with a strange though tasty tomato-based dip is worth trying. Must try the flavoursome Steamed Spinach with Mushroom (Suzanne Roshan's favourite) which is as good as the Chicken Pepper Chilli (Priyanka Chopra's favourite). The Fried Ice Cream makes a fitting finale. The downsides? Though the restaurant has been opened up with glass walls overlooking the pool and ocean, the decor is a bit crammed, especially with the island bar in the centre with bar stools all around it. Yet, I would say it's worth a visit.

Sampan is certainly one of the finest Chinese restaurants in town.
I visited Sampan recently and the high quality service certainly made my dining experience special.
The management might have changed hands but the taste of Sampan definitely hasn't changed.
Sampan serves some awesome Chinese food and the gorgeous view of Juhu Beach compliments it perfectly!
Favorite Dishes / Drinks: Cha Chu Prawns, pot rice

If you want to have authentic Chinese food which is not Indian-ised, then Sampan is the place that you have to visit. From their starters to the main course, every cuisine they serve is delicious.

I got the chance of eating here in this restaurant. I liked this place for offering great Chinese food. I loved the presentation very much. The ambiance is quiet good. The prices of the dishes are not so high. Go for some nice cocktails.
