To travel through South India without leaving the thali at your table, visit Andheri’s neat, no-frills (functional table and bench décor), pure-veggie Banana Leaf (blessings from Tirupathi Balaji placed upfront). You’ll go bananas over the flavoursome Malabar Curry and Appam here but don’t stop there! The fieriness of the Andhra chilli, the silkiness of the coconut-infused Kerala delights, the tanginess of tamarind from Tamil Nadu will, in turn, titillate your taste buds. Chettinad Biryani, Hyderabad Tomato Korma Idli, Mulgai Idli are some of the stars here. Idlis (Tokiyal and Poriyal) are rendered with their own subtle nuances. Superbly crisp Potato Medu Vada offers a taste of Karnataka. Do try the Ragi and Neer Dosas, as well as the Kerala Parota. End with the refreshingly cooling Thairu Sadam, my favourite Yelami Cham Sadham and Lemon Rice are noteworthy too. The tender coconut Elaneer Payasam is a must try. The choices are diverse, but in almost every instance, they deliver. Please note: the regular thali is priced at Rs.rn250.rnP.S. As the book goes to press, I am informed that they plan to open new outlets in Thane and Santacruz SV Road (next to Dhanabhai jewellers) in the next two months.rn

This is an authentic and pure vegetarian food plaza that has many delicious dishes on the menu. My father took the family to this restaurant for the first time and since that day I prefer this place for good south Indian food.
For me their best dish is Chettinad Biryani and in other dishes I love Elaneer Payasam and Malabar Curry. Banana Leaf’s food is never disappointing and they know what taste people look for.

This time Banana Leaf is where I and my friends decided to come to for a friend’s birthday treat. As she is vegetarian this was one of the best options available in the city. The interior of this restaurant is suitable for families dine out and good get together. The menu literally covers the entire south India. Their Andhra cuisine is superb and so is the Chettinadu food. Malabar Curry, Chettinad Biryani and Neer Dosa are my favorite things. Banana Leaf is a complete place for complete South Indian food.
