As this book goes to press, Le Monde opens in Juhu across the road from Penne. You won’t be able to take your eyes off the ceiling, we’re informed, where ”stars” (customized lights) shine through what looks like a (very sophisticated) fisherman’s net, offering an incredibly memorable and unique ambience. Wooden chairs and tables and plush couches are spread over this sprawling 2,500sq ft restaurant that serves up Mediterranean fare with commercial music playing (at tolerable sound levels) in the background. A comprehensive wine list, cocktails and even beer compliment the meal... plenty of international and domestic selections. Eschewing recent trends for including everything under the sun, ”The World” offers a refreshingly crisp and concise menu with under a half dozen choices within each category - soups, salads, pastas, mains and desserts. Lamb Chops, Grilled Chicken, Fish and Vegetable Crepes are there for the mains. Priced on the higher side. They’re also planning to open for lunch soon.
