This tiny, no-frills, cramped Walkeshwar eatery is tucked into the trafficked Teen Batti Road and serves tasty, authentic, well-priced (dishes between Rs. 50-60), vegetarian Tamilian fare. It doesn’t ace some of its dishes, is noisy, doesn’t have a liquor license, parking is a pain and benches are uncomfy. But it’s still worth going for one of the finest, melting, fluffy-yet-firm idlis of the city, the Lemon Sevai, the large parchment roll of Nai Roast Dosai with golden-rich ghee. Hema Malini’s favourite here is Pongal, which is done to perfection. The Bisi Bele Bhaath has both body and flavour. The Ragi Dosai, Adai Dosai, Medu Vada and Thayir Sadam come out with flying colours, as do the true-blue sambhar (not sweetened), and the Molagapodi, the real McCoy of a gunpowder. The avoidables? Lacklustre Appams, stodgy Dahi Vadas, watery and synthetic ice creams... Coffee disappoints too.rnP.S. They are open for breakfast on Sundays from 8am onwards.
