What started in Bridgeport, Connecticut, as Fred DeLuca’s medical school fund was a phenomenon from the very first day; that pace hasn’t stopped since. Soon, Subway stores popped up all across America and then the continents. Sandwich King Fred DeLuca’s Subway enjoys raving success at over two dozen stores spread across Mumbai (please see the website for a location near you). The formula is simple and each cheery yellow-and-green franchise-owned store repeats it with raving success. Decide on size (substantial footlong or 6” sub), and select from Multigrain, Parmesan Oregano, Honey Oat, Hearty Italian or others (they bake their own bread, but sadly, don’t sell the loaves individually). Pile on plenty of fresh vegetables along with your choice of fillings (from paneer to chicken but nothing deep-fried), spike with sauces (Honey Mustard, Sweet Onion, Tangy Barbecue and more) and enjoy! Take advantage of their combo meals that offer cookies, coke and chips to go with your sandwich. Tack on Rs.40 to make a salad that’s quick, substantial and easy-to-eat. Indian favourite flavours include Corn ’n’ Peas, Paneer Tikka, Aloo Patty from the vegetarian flavours section as well as Chicken Tikka, Chicken Seekh and Chicken Tandoori from the local flavours section. Subway Club, Roasted Chicken, Tuna, and Turkey from the original Subway menu are also equally popular. As their slogan says, ”Eat fresh, everyday, your way.” P.S.
