The secret to Panchvati Gaurav's success is swift service and tasty thalis! Buzzing like a busy bee hive (as is typical of Gujarati Thali eateries), watch the many little bowls in your plate fill up within minutes of your being seated; four subzis, two farsaans, two sweets, dal, Masala Rice, Khichdi, Bhakri, Dhokla, roti, puri, curd, rice and Dahi Curry scurry past your table, their aromas tease your nose as the servers deftly ladle them into your plate. My favourite is the Dal Bati (available in the evenings) and Chhaas. At the flagship Bombay Hospital location, guests are welcomed with a complimentary glass of Jal Jeera too. You can ask for thalis with less chilli and less sweetened food; there's also a Kid's Special Thali with child friendly versions of the adult choices. Weekday pricing is Rs. 240, while Sat-Sun is Rs. 310 (extra: Undhiyu, three mithais and pulao) for the dine-in. Parcel services are more competitively priced as quantities are naturally limited (small parcel: Rs. 75, medium parcel: Rs. 200, full parcel: Rs. 320, and Family Parcel: Rs. 640, serves four).

I had to celebrate my kids first birthday, so I invited all my family members at this place. The number of people were around 21. We had been to Maharaja Bhog earlier, so we decided that lets go in for a new hotel. We selected Panchavati Gaurav basis that they had a good network of outlets all over India. So we assumed that they would good as well. We reached the place, INfinity Mall, Malad at around 1.15 PM and were offered the seating. (they do not reserve the table). Our plates were ready at the table, we had a separate Jain table out of three tables. I have broken down my review in various segments below:1) Food - Too sweet, Right from vegetables to Dal/Curry everything was sweet. They had the Ammotsav festival in which they served Aamrass. However, the aamrass was not pure alphonso, it was mixed that we get from the market. With regards to getting served, there was no dedicated manager to look after. Everytime we wanted something, we had to call the waiter/serving guy (which in contrast to Maharaja Bhog, where you are served happily till you refuse to eat). The Khaman (one of the farsan) was as well cold and hard. Home made Khamans would taste much better.2) Service - One of the pathetic service I have ever experienced in this kind of format. For every item you wanted you need to call the waiter. There were only one waiter with one item serving the whole outlet. The best part of their customer hospitality was revealed in the end. After having going through the ordeal of this kind of sweet (read diabetic food. I asked the Manager to help us set the cake on the table as we wanted to celebrate the birthday, to my surprise, the manager in the safari refused, saying that you should have done in at the start, now at this time there is a huge queue of customers outside the hotel. This clearly shows that they just care for your money and not you. Once you have had your food, you are useless for them as their only motive is money. Hearing this argument to celebrate the bday before, I had an altercation with him and in the end we celebrated my sons Bday but not as we had liked. Please note that 21 people thali costed us nearly 9000 bucks and we were treated like this. Their manager in safari is one of the most shrewed person who behaves like Atithi Devo Bhava till you enter and kicks you out after the money like a tissue. This sums it all, Never Ever go to Panchavati Gaurav. There are other competitive restaurants and they offer much pleasant service with a smile and are more courteous.

Panchvati Gaurav is modernised version of mythological panchavati ... :) where you get pure vegetarian cuisine. This place offers fusion of Gujarati & Rajasthani flavours with gatta curry / dal bati churma / khandawi / white dhokla / Bajra ki roti and lot of shudh desi ghee on top of it // with this heavy dose you get Mast masala chhaas for digestion. It is really value for money !!!!
