As good as ever. Grand Hyatt’s masterly Italian restaurant’s chef Alessandro Persico continues to serve up addictively superb wafer-thin-crust pizzas and also one of the best Italian experiences in Mumbai. I revisit it, just as the book goes to press, and find it as buzzing as ever. Chef Persico bustles in the interactive show kitchen with a wood-fired pizza oven, rotisserie and charcoal grill. The superb warm Ciabatta and Garlic Bread served on the table signal the outstanding meal which follows. Outstanding Genovese Minestrone Soup served with Pesto Sauce, equally good are the wafer-thin-crust Pizza Celini (tomato, mozzarella, ricotta, fried eggplant, basil and sundried tomato) and Pizza Primavera (mixed vegetables). Unerringly cooked Tomato Ravioli and Pumpkin Tortellini and Tuna Pasta are recommended. Interestingly, even the Wholewheat Ravioli is superlative. Go for the Cod with Capers, Parmigiana Eggplant and end with the delightfully light and creamy Amaretto Crème Brûlée and dense Chocolate Cake. The fine quality of ingredients shines through. With friendly service and a well-stocked cellar of Italian wines, it continues to be one of the finest Italian experiences of the city.

PS: Request to be seated in one of the booths. Gone is the plonked-in-the-lobby, open-plan look and now it has its own entrance and revamped lower section. Three-course Set Lunch for `1,313.

As for the menu, it is all Italo-American cuisine with very affordable pricing. For what we have tried meatballs were great, one of the better I tasted. Panella I tried for the first time as I am not familiar with Silican Flare of Italian cuisine and this appetizer comes right from Citta di Palermo. It is a Garbanzo Bean Fritter that on the island gets served in a sandwich, but CAN MAKE them as appetizers. Let me tell you, they are pretty good.
