Head to “samosa heaven”… If a Mumbaikar, you’ve probably eaten a “GK Samosa” at one of the many movie theatres in the city that source their crunchy heavens from this popular 35-year-old eatery. Fittingly, this brightly lit 100-seater (slightly claustrophobic), no-frills, whitemarble floored, quick-service restaurant has pictures of Bollywood stars eating here in the early days. Pay coupons and pick up fare from respective stalls, or dine in the non air conditioned and air-conditioned (brightly lit with sofas et al. and better bet) sections. College students who swear by the Samosa Chhole and Grilled Sandwiches throng the several snack counters. In the dine-in sections (prices slightly higher in the air-conditioned one), casually-clad waiters bring out authentic Sindhi Curry and Rice that makes for a wholesome VFM meal (in spite of the absence of the traditional Aloo Tuk) accompanied with a passable Boondi Laddoo, patties, and papad. While Guru Kripa also serves regular idlis, dosas, and Pao Bhaji, opt for the tangy ice cold Paani Puri. Ask for Set Meals at lunch that begin at Rs 44. Those with a sweet tooth will appreciate the array of freshly prepared Indian sweets on display. We recommend the rich Gulab Jambun, Rasmalai and seasonal Gajar ka Halwa.
