This Veg Hummus House continues to grow at a rapid pace and now spans the city - New York, Budapest, Israel and now Mumbai! Mumbai's infatuation with hummus (Jain, teekha, tri-colour and Basil options too!) intensifies with these compact neon green and brown pure-veg fast-food eateries (parking anywhere in town is tough) that serve the best Falafels in town. Plump, soft, spongy Pita Bread is stuffed generously with the spice and crunch of the Chickpea Fritter, tanginess of Pickled Veggies and silken nuttiness of the Sesame Seed Tahini. Hummus with delightful sides. Skip desserts in favour of waistline-friendly Mini Falafels and Falafel Wraps. Takeaway options include Pita (Rs. 21), Hummus (Rs. 55/80gm) and Pickled Veggies (Rs. 85/500g). Combo Meals add drinks of various sizes, salads and desserts as sides at fantastic VFM (Rs. 179-199). Rs. 224 meal for two people. No wonder Mumbai's fallen for Falafels! P.S. Delivery provided through Delivery Chef (www.deliverychef.in).

I recently had a horrendous experience at Falafel's,Govalia Tank,Mumbai which I am now going to share with you. SO bad that it involves the manager in-charge trying to assault me.
On 17/3/2013 I was home alone and called in for a home delivery from Falafels. It was an order of 3 Falafel combos(Hummus+Falafels+2 Pita Breads +Lemonade)
I placed my order at 8 pm and was told by the receptionist that it would take about 40 minutes for my order to come. Since 40 minutes is almost the standard delivery time in Mumbai traffic, I didn't argue.
It arrived after 90 minutes and and as I sat down to unpack I noticed that the chilli sauce had leaked due to a tear in the plastic zip-lock bag and was all over the food and all 3 boxes of hummus along with the lemonades were leaking too.
There was no way that I was going to accept that so I called them back and told them the issue.
Initially, they kept transferring my call and I had to explain the situation to 3 different people and FINALLY they assured me that they'll send a replacement order within 15 minutes and well, they did. Fair enough.
Once again I unpacked & saw the same sauce spread all over the bag. It was probably due to low quality zip-locks. It was so difficult to even remove everything without my hands being dirty with all that chilli sauce. To top it all, this time they forgot to put falafels in the replacement order and well, it's kind of pointless to eat from "Falafels" without, well, falafels.
So I called back to complain, again, and when I told them the problem the guy on the phone told his counterpart "Yeh kya ma ch** raha hai yaar"(Go figure). They refused to solve my problem and instead chose to abuse.
I'd had enough. Frustrated and insulted, I went to the restaurant to give my order back and demanded a refund. Their explanation for the abuse was, "Sir he wasn't abusing you. He was abusing the manager"
Alright....
But what baffled me is what happened after that. I wished to speak to their in-charge to give my feedback and I spoke this young lad Rohan Narsale (Probably in his late 20's) and told him about my issue and seriously questioned their customer service. He charged out of the counter and came storming towards me and started raising his volume and said that I should buzz off since I had got my refund. This really irked me and I told him that i'd like to speak to a further senior. He started threatening me while *almost* poking his finger into my eyes(bugger) while abusing me with unmentionable expletives about my family, saying that he wasn't scared of me. He tapped me on my shoulders twice and before things could get ugly, the staff pulled him away. If I can keep my volume and language under control, why did he have to behave like a hooligan? Is standard procedure to resolve issues in India like this?
What did I do?I called the cops.I will complain to a higher authority at Falafels,India.I will share my experience on social networks Why?Because as a nation,we still lack that basic sense of empathy that goes a long way in building relations. Just a smile and a warm thank you make customers happy. Customers want to be happy. We like being treated well and such experiences just ruin it all. It's a new low and quite shameful, actually.I agree that it's probably a one-off case but still,it needs to be dealt with and brands like Falafels need to be taught basics in customer handling.
Such absurd behavior. No wonder, they're shutting shop almost everywhere.
Never ever calling from that place ever again and would recommend you'll to stay away as well.

My newest culinary craze is Lebanese food and I get ample of them at Falafel’s and that too for a fairly reasonable price. You get pita bread here for just 21 rupees and a whole meal for two people costs less than 300 rupees. I like their food and of course coming here is always good with someone special.
