Considered to be the oldest Chinese restaurant in the city, Chinese Room on East Street has a pleasant decor. Old-timers have the advantage of being familiar with the staff. The restaurant offers an old-fashioned and simple yet good Chinese meal. The Golden-Fried Prawns are light and fluffy and crisp to perfection. The soya-based Chilli Chicken (Rs. 200) is predictable, while the Salt 'n' Pepper Chicken comes out to be a winner. The famous American Chop Suey is a favourite as is the Stir-fry Chinese Greens in mild Garlic Sauce. The Crackling Rice Soup (a clear vegetable broth) is served with hot puffed rice, which crackles as it is sprinkled on top. The Lemon Coriander Soup is unique. If in a group, do try the U Tell Me Soup (Rs. 400), a clear flavourful broth with meats, seafood and vegetables that comes in a steamboat large enough for four people. Chicken Saiwoo, though slightly on the sweeter side, is a great starter. If you like pork, the (tender) Barbecue Spare Ribs is a good option. Darsaan (crispy-fried flat noodles with honey and sesame sauce) disappoints.

In the city, Chinese Room Oriental is one of the oldest restaurant that has been offering classic Chinese cuisine for quite sometime now.
The crispy Golden-Fried Prawns is a sure shot winner and one of the best in Pune. Also the Salt and Pepper Chicken is mouth watering. Chinese Room Oriental is one of the best Chinese cuisine destination in the city.
