A chic a la carte Indian restaurant in Westin with a tandoor show kitchen, very much a family place. The decor is dark in wood and hues of gold. The tandoor and the bar are visible through kangan (bangle)-shaped glass screens. The service is efficient, informal and professional with food and wine suggestions. On offer are local and new-world wines. They also have an extensive selection of whisky, bottled beer and innovative mixes. Chef Deepak Dandge has done well with traditional North Indian/Lucknavi, adding a few twists of his own. His Galouti Kebabs — both the real Lucknavi version (made with smoked minced lamb) and the vegetarian one (with smoked Rajma) — are the most authentic I have had in Pune. Also good are Murgh Chandi Kebab (served with papaya and raisin relish), Tandoori Jhinga (served with a shrimp pickle), Paneer 'n' Broccoli Tikka (served with a brie apple salad), and the delicious Makai Methi Seekh (with an unusual banana stem salad). Portions are large for a five-star restaurant and there is no compromise on ghee, cream and fat, which although render the food quite delicious, do leave you a tad heavy, to say the least. Rotis, Black Dal and the Kachhi Gosht Biryani are all excellent. The Kalakand Cheesecake, Khubani Shahi Tukda and Pistachio Phirni all taste heavenly. The food at Kangan is an authentic Delhi experience in Pune with twists that work. The decor is somewhat darkish which makes the ambience a bit sombre compared with most Indian restaurants.

Bring your family to Kangan restaurant and share the joy of having dishes like Makai Methi Seekh, Galouti Kebab, and Cheesecake and so on and so forth. In terms of its food, the place is closed to north India and my family is just too happy with their food and staff service. Kangan Restaurant is where great north Indian food meets enthusiastic diners of the city.

Kangan is a beautifully creates restaurant to ensure fine dining experience. The wooden interior is so perfect for sitting and enjoying a nice meal with family and friends. The North West Frontier cuisine is really well made that tastes even better with some innovative beverages. You must not miss Murgh Chandi Kebab, Makai Methi Seekh and Tandoori Jhinga that is so authentically prepared. Kangan is best north Indian restaurant in Pune for me.
