When Shikharra first opened, the Kashmiri food was quite restaurant-like. Although tasty, many of the dishes bordered on Punjabi. There is a new Kashmiri chef on board at Shikharra now - a waza, or traditional Kashmiri Muslim cook, who is adept at cooking the Kashmiri wazwan, a multi-course feast. On the new menu are the dishes you would expect - Rista and Gushtaba, Kabargah and Tabak Maaz, Rogan Josh and Yakhni. New to the menu is the wonderfully crisp Nadur Munji, vertically cut lotus root, and Khatta Machhi. In the main courses, try the Saag Chaman, slabs of paneer fried and smothered with a Kashmiri leafy vegetable known as haaq. The Murgh Dum Wazwan is as rich as you would expect. And the Murgh Dhaniwala Korma is lighter, since it has been cooked with fresh coriander and yoghurt. The Ninya Pulau is made with mutton and mutton stock and is my pick of the rice dishes. Do try the Sufta for dessert - it is a typical Kashmiri dry-fruit pudding made with apricots and dates in a saffron sugar syrup. Also go for Kahwa, the Kashmiri green tea brewed with saffron and almonds.

Shikharra Restaurant & Bar is a Kashmiri restaurant that has a good stock of non veg food. I come to this place very often and their Murgh Dhaniwala Korm and Khatta Machhi are my true calling. During the winters Kahwa is a good drink to get some heat from inside. Shikharra Restaurant & Bar is must visit as not many places in the city serves Kashmiri food.

I dont agree with what the reviewer has to say. The kashmiri food that they serve is not at all kashmiri. I being a kashmiri myself can authenticate that. Where in Kashmir do your serve sliced 'Dum aloo' in a tomato gravy. Besides the ambience there is nothing kashmiri about this place. If you are going for good kashmiri food please avoid this place. It is super expensive and definitely not kashmiri.
A very bad experience.
