Malaka Spice is more than just a restaurant. It has become somewhat of a Pune institution, a reflection of the passion of Cheeru and Praful Chandawarkar, the owners who have laboured from a small space in Lane 6 to a large sprawling restaurant in the next lane. They seem to have the right formula for success in this city - a good menu driven by passion which caters to the local taste buds, competitive pricing and location. As for the food, Malaka Spice has been serving consistently good Oriental food for several years. The Chicken Yakitori, boneless chicken on skewers in a soya, mirin and sugar marinade, is quite authentic, and the old favourite Chicken in Pandanu Leaves is always a winner. Krathak are good-sized prawns wrapped in a spring roll and deep-fried. And quite irresistible is the Satay Javanese, boneless chicken flattened on skewers and served with a peanut sauce. Soups like Tom Yum Kung, and Prawn and Spinach Soup are satisfying. Other dishes to try are the Top Hats, with a chicken or vegetable filling, the Lamb and Duck Stir-Fries, and the Mee Siam, one pot noodle soup. The salads here are always fresh. The prices are still unbelievably reasonable for this kind of food. They have recently opened Malaka Street, a QSR version of their restaurant in the fancy Phoenix Market City mall. It's not, obviously, as good as the original but then it is fast food at fast prices. rn

Malaka Spice, Lane 5 North Main Road Koregaon Park :
My first visit to this restaurant. Great variety of Oriental dishes on offer.
Following is the food review of the dishes :
Top Hat Duck : Nicely cooked smoked duck stuffing filled inside crispy roll decorated with sprouts on top , served with nicely cut carrot, vegetable salad and honey orange sugar sauce with red chilies ( this sauce had a mix of sweet, tangy, spicy flavours )
Randang Fish in Banan : Basa fish with red Marination served as satay with peanut sauce.
Chicken Minced salad : finely grained, chopped chicken with a lot of herbs, cucumber, tomato, lemon juice with rice noodles on top, balance of all these flavors were excellent.
Mocktails : Vietnamese coffee --> cold coffee with Vanilla ice cream, sweet water, ice cubes on top. Mocktail was ok, nothing special.
Nut House Glory --> Nutty fruity drink with vanilla ice cream with strawberry sauce on top. Good drink
Malay spice Noodles (Veg) with Red chilli paradox chicken --> good dish nice mix of flavors from red chilli in chicken sauce and finely chopped green chilies from noodles with green onions. Noodles were perfectly cooked and dish was good but the green onions were a bit overcooked and had lots of ginger ( small circular chopped pieces ) which were overpowering the balance and texture of this dish.
Chocolate Walnut tart with Vanilla ice cream : Rich burned dark chocolate pie with chopped walnuts, salted butter, choco chips with Vanilla ice cream . Had it for the first time was great , chocolaty and walnutty
Service is good and efficient. Nice ambience and décor. All dishes were great.
---Tejas Pathak Food : 4, Service 3.5 , Decor 3.5
Favorite Dishes / Drinks: Top Hat Duck, Chicken Minced salad

Yes Malaka Spice is by the same people as Salt Water Grill. The only thing that has changed is the location only to our good luck (People from Bandra.) A fine-dine cafe located beside Lilavati Hospital is a treat for every food lover. The must tries- Tend
