Starting with Mumbai and Bangalore, Hard Rock Cafe came up with its third outlet in India here. Spreading over a whopping 7,500 sq ft, it has memorabilia galore - you can find one of Eric Clapton's guitars, John Lennon's grey collarless suit worn in A Hard Day's Night, Elton John's floor-length denim coat, Elvis Presley's green velvet robe, Bob Dylan's black leather jacket, and a lavender and white vest worn by Sly of Sly and the Family Stone. Hard Rock serves some amazing mocktails (Mango Berry Cooler, Crushed Velvet) and cocktails (Appletini, Pomegranate, Golden Margarita, Exotic Margarita). The live band on Thursdays is a bit of a conversation killer. But then this is not the kind of place you come to for a quiet evening with friends. It's DJ music for the other days. The acoustics are amazingly good and so is the sound level. Interestingly, you can't hear a thing outside, which means effectively sound-proof. Hard Rock delivers exactly what it promises - great rock music, great American food and trendy surroundings. Cover charge per person is Rs. 250 on Thursdays and Rs. 400 on Saturdays. The Pune Hard Rock Cafe does live up the Hard Rock promise.
