Mahesh Lunch Home has been a popular food destination ever since this Mumbai cousin opened its door at Ambedkar Road. The fish are fresh and well prepared. While at Mahesh, you may also order platters (Chicken: Rs.1000, Fish Fry: Rs.900, Fish Tandoor: Rs.1000). Fish Tandoori (pomfret marinated in masala and done on charcoal fire) and Fish Chatpat (boneless cubes of fish marinated in masala, deep-fried and then served with salad) are the preparations that will make you mop your plate clean! You can have the same preparation in crab, lobster and tiger prawn also. Prawn Gassi (Rs.350), Fish Lajawab (Rs.350), Boneless Crab (Rs.1500), and Mahesh Special Chicken (in green or red gravy) are quite a hit. Imported wines, cocktails and mocktails are also there to accompany the food. Do not expect much from service or decor. But always make it a point to call and reserve a table beforehand. Otherwise, be prepared to brave the waiting, especially during weekends. It is a sign of its growing popularity that it's planning to open another branch in Hinjewadi.

I immediately decided to go here as i got to know they are also in Pune...had roasted surmai which was great...and followed up with fish gassi and special mahesh chicken...both nice. however the appams served were not even warm...and kept sticking to the coconut leaf....
all in all was good but not as good as in Bombay!
