Annalakshmi is a must visit for the taste of authentic South Indian cuisine. They have recently relocated to Egmore and mind you it's frequented by the elite crowd in the city. So dress up as to not stick out as a sore thumb and be prepared for that huge hole in your wallet. We assure you will not regret the visit. For the lovers of eggplant try their Enaikathirikkai. And the range of payasam is worth every penny. The portions served are quite filling and you won't be complaining about the cost once you've had your meal. They also have a banquet which you can book for private parties.

Staying in Egmore I didnt know this place existed until few months back when I was invited there by friends for lunch. Table has to booked in advance and we had thali. At the beginning we didnt know why the servings were small but the second helpings were in as much quantity as we want. Luckily I didnt indulge too much in any dish until the end. By the time the last dish came we were full with the very limited helpings. The menu was large and the quality was extraordinary. The cooking was 100% typical homely. Next visit was to the buffet with family and I will be putting it mildly when I say we had a great time, this time seeing the entire menu in the beginning indulging more in what we like. Like the previous experience every item was homely. And puliyotharai was better than homely. We tried to find out the recipe but found out it was made by a brahmin mami who prepared that dish only and left for the day.We have tried almost all pure vegetarian restaurants in the city this is Number 1 by a very wide margin. Pity they have limited seating. By the way the ambience and service are equally good.

I went here some months back and i was fine with the place, for me its a one go place. But anyways the place was pretty good.
