Fresh from a recent revamp, this ultra-elite member-centric nightclub opened just in time to host the after parties for the Indian Grand Prix 2012 for the second year in a row. Under new management and with a facelift that reminds you of the old art-deco-on-steroids version, albeit with nips and tucks, LAP's door policy is still as strict and its vibe still as gilded. The four months it went under the knife saw a much needed upgrade of the sound and light system as well as additions like a new, elevated area in the club with plush seating and tweaks to push the DJ console back and make more room along with an update of the bar. The most significant change that excites us is the seasonal pop-up restaurant that promises to offer something new every six months, which was yet to be launched by the time we went to print. The VVIP Lounge continues to be the hot seat with members and guest list entrants clamouring for a reservation. Now run by RMI Hospitality that also launched Aurus in Mumbai, the tone of the menu has changed, but lush cocktails like the Bellini remain the favourites and compete for attention with the exclusive bar menu of wine, whiskies and Champagnes. Music is usually house or deep house except on gig nights, which is when non-members can pay a cover to enter. P.S: At the time of this review, LAP was only open on Fridays and Saturdays, but they will soon revert back to their Wednesday to Saturday schedule.
