The menu at Maa Tara is fairly representative of the vast Bengali repertoire. This eatery is no more than a glorified dhaba. It's not the archetypal North Indian dhaba, though. You can look forward to Aloo Poshto, Bhetki Sorsho, Ilish Sorsho, Rui Kalia and Kasha Mangsho. What is certainly worth a shot is the Mochar Chingri. Also rather good are the Aloo Poshto and Cheetol Macher Moithia. What is an absolute must at Maa Tara is the Poshto Bada. Go for it! Maa Tara doesn't quite do justice to Bangla ranna, but it does somewhat satisfy your craving for Bengali food.

Maa Tara at No. 2 market at CR Park is a bachelor's eatery typically catering to Bengali palate…people often visiting for quick lunch after the business deals in Nehru Place or friends getting together for a convenient meal while giving cooking a 'go by' in the evening…
While the restaurant entrenched behind the main market has 'not so enviable' location, it can pride in its fairly clean interiors. The menu lists all Bengali cuisines…shukto, alu-posto, posto-bada, mochar ghanto, beguni… in veg section and many non-veg delicacies especially with fish (rohu, bekti, hilsa, pabda, tangra, prawns…). It also serves ubiquitous 'kosha mangsho' from Bengal. For not so adventurous ones, Maa Tara does offer paneer preparations, chicken curry, biriyanis…
The veg thali (rice, dal, one sabzi, alu-bhaja) costing Rs.70.00 along with a non-veg dish could be a good combo for lunch. Rohu curry (Rs.130.00) comes with two large pieces of fish cooked in authentic Bengali spices.
On the overall, if you are too fed up with your forays into rich North Indian fair across Delhi and you need a break, an insouciant meal at Maa Tara could be the one to look for!
