With its outlets spread across Delhi and NCR, Sagar Ratna has become a byword for South Indian fast food. A price-friendly option for vegetarians, this chain serves the vegetarian food of Karnataka as opposed to that of Tamil Nadu, which also has idlis and dosas, albeit with subtle differences in the taste. All Sagar Ratna outlets have a high degree of standardization, lightning-fast service and thali meals as well as snacks like idlis, dosas, Uttapams and Upmas. Sagar's affordable Fixed Thali is recommended for those who wish to have a full meal. Otherwise, try the Onion Rava Masala Dosa, the rice-dish-in-a-meal Bisi Bele Huli Anna and the Dahi Vadas, which are all good here. The Defence Colony and The Ashok hotel outlets are the most genteel. For the rest, don't go looking for ambience: This is a strictly functional chain and the prices are proof.

After carrying heaps of shopping bag, me and friends decided to have a good lunch. We headed towards Sagar Ratna. The interiors is a great turn off, but yes as it is said never judge a book by its cover, same goes with this South-Indian restaurant. We had Palak Dosa and Masala Dosa along with Milk Shakes and Vadas. The food was great and I must say the typical South-Indian taste can be found. Sagar Ratna is certainly a good place to go.
