Our busy lives make taking a vacation a distant dream. Places like Sakley, a tiny café in Gurgaon, offer a welcome respite from the humdrum, half convincing you that you are in a cozy hillside café instead. It is a lively and inviting little space where the young crowd loves to hang out, listen to some retro music or flip through a book. In true hillside café manner, the menu offers shakes, pizzas, pastas, burgers and sandwiches and there is a good chance you may even be personally served by the enthusiastic owner. The portions are large and the prices affordable. We recommend you give their Oreo Shake a try, maybe even as you stand and wait the elusive empty table.

Sakleys The Mountain Caf has two branches. One in Gurgaon and one in Delhi. The one in Gurgaon is the one I went to. It is very easy to miss Sakleys because it is hidden on the first floor in one of the inconsequential aisles of Galleria Market. I watch a lot of TV shows on food and Sakley's reminded me of a mountain caf I had seen on NDTV Goodtimes a while ago (Dj vu). A caf, a legacy left behind by a Swiss gentleman in Nanital. I loved the show. The menu was on the table with a laminated red card that said, Stories of strewn pines rolled into melting chocolate clairs..the frosty winter nights culminating in warm apple crumble and hot molten truffle..the Sakley's makes the mountains come alive..because there is a little bit of mountain in all of us Stories of strewn pines rolled into melting chocolate clairs..the frosty winter nights culminating in warm apple crumble and hot molten truffle..the Sakley's makes the mountains come alive..because there is a little bit of mountain in all of us. Fascinating, I thought. I was intrigued. Get us a 'Brooklyn Chicken Sandwich with melted cheese and mayonnaise', a 'Woodville Cheesy Chicken Sandwich with salami and mustard', a 'Coffee' and a 'Hot Chocolate' please!, I said. The food took about 30 minutes to arrive. The drinks came in 15 minutes. The food was decent. The place could use some lights. No one likes to dine at a dark and dingy place. Would I visit again? Probably not but I did really enjoy my hot chocolate very much.
