Bob's Inn is quite an institution in the North Goa area and popular with the old time hippie crowd. This bungalow-style restaurant with a garden area is now obscured by the mushrooming resorts around it. The food is decent, the portions large, but the prices on the higher side. It's a good place to try Goan food like the perennial favourite Fish Curry Rice or the Prawn Curry Rice. They make excellent Prawn Balchao, Crab Xacutti, Crab Recheado Fry, Mussels in White Wine, Chicken Xacutti, the Goan chicken dish made by roasting garam masala along with coconut kernels. It's a good place to try Kingfish Recheado, a large fish with the spicy Goan stuffing. The shell-fish is also excellent here. Their European-style chicken and steak sizzlers are also hugely popular, especially with old timers. A word of caution: The atmosphere can get a bit claustrophobic if it's crowded.
