Down the Road, a recent addition to Panaji’s culinary scene, has the biggest Chinese-Oriental menu in Goa and the dishes come with authentic flavours at reasonable prices. And the portions are decent too. There are too many dishes to list them all here, but you get a whole lot of rice, noodle, chicken, beef, pork, prawns, vegetarian and seafood dishes in all the classic Chinese sauces and styles - Schezwan, Cantonese, Hoisin, Hunan, et al, and lots of unusual ones too. There’s a selection of Thai and other south Asian dishes like Chicken Pan Pan, Satays, Chicken Galangal Soup (a type of ginger soup said to be good for health). Not only the extensive Chinese-Oriental dishes, they also have a smattering of International favourites like the Moroccan Spiced Fish which comes with a black-eyed peas stew (not to be confused with the rock band black-eyed peas!), Italian pastas and lasagna, steaks, Goan Sausage Pulao, North Indian veg and non-veg masalas and roti, et al. The food is good, and they also have a good bar menu and prompt, friendly service. You can either sit inside (non-a/c), or out on the first floor balcony overlooking the 300-year-Old Patto Bridge and Rua de Ourem in Panaji. The chairs are made of sawed off old beer barrels, which are very comfortable.

In recent past, I would say this is the best place where I went to for a great Chinese cuisine. They also serve Thai and few other south Asian cuisines and dishes. In my last visit I had Pan fried noodles and some pork dish, lovely as even do visit if you happen to be around.

Down the Road, I saw this Chinese Restaurant recently. I went there with couple of my friends last Saturday. We were looking for something different and so ordered Chicken Galangal Soup, Italian pastas and lasagna. The food was good but the service was quite slow. I liked the ambiance though.
