This Matunga home of the most authentic Tamilian food was Raj Kapoor's favourite! And it continues to draw regulars. My friends and I still journey here for our idli'dosa-fix. It's still as good as ever. I savour the idli with home-made butter and Mulaghapodi (more popular as gun powder). I make it a point to walk into this small, two-floored, black-granite eatery and eat my way through the delectable Urad Dal Ulundu Dosa and Moong Dal Pesarattu Dosa with the hearty, spicy Sambhar made with the perfect Podi. Its Rasam Vada, Kadi Vada and Neer Dosa are famous. As are the Kadhi Vada, Rasam Vada, Misal, Dahi Misal. Panpoli is a sweet available only on Wednesdays. Dahi Bhaath, Lemon Bhaath and Bisibelebhaath are served on alternate days. Do remember to pick up the Sambhar Podi, Murruku and the fudge-like Banana Halwa at the cash counter. The Malad branch offers thali for Rs.40, which is worth checking out.

Come to Gopal restaurant if you are a fan of authentic Tamilian food. I come all the way to this place for their Lemon Bhatt, Rasam, Idli and Murruku. Sometimes I even pick my dinner from here and share them with my roommates who love experimenting with new cuisines. Low rates of the food are another beauty of this place. Average interior, super food and very pocket friendly cost is what makes Gopal a desirable place to have food.

Gopal is the most favorite spot for Tamilian food in the city. I have been here regularly since my first visit and their Gun Powder chutney is one of the main draws for me. Urad Dal Ulundu Dosa, Rasam Vada and Misal are my usual dishes from the menu. In desserts Banana Halwa is a unique tasty thing that I like indulging in every once in a while. On weekends this restaurant offers few different and wonderful dishes that are absolutely mouth watering. Gopal is a family dining restaurant with lots to offer in food.
