The speciality Italian restaurant at Westin is all about a warm welcome and it has absolutely nothing to do with apologies. Located on the first floor, it has a private dining room and alfresco dining. The decor is a cross between contemporary chic and Las Vegas retro, in hues of burnt orange and warm wood. The wood-fired pizzas are thin and quite flavoursome. The Piccante may not be as “piccante” as it should be, but it is pretty delicious all the same. The Carpaccio and Lasagna al Forno are well-prepared. In the case of pasta, you match your variety with your favourite sauce. The Spaghetti Vongole (clams in a white wine sauce) can be “flat” and lacking the salty punch of seafood. However, the Garretto di Agnello Brasato is excellent. Tagliolini, strands of fresh pasta with truffle oil, with a touch of cream and Parmesan, is truly amazing. The Osso Bucco, a Milanese dish of braised veal shank served with saffron risotto, would appeal to those with a palate for hearty home cooking. You may also laze over a Sunday Brunch just for `900 plus taxes. The Vanilla Ice Cream and fresh strawberries with balsamico make an unusual, heady combination of sweet, creamy and sour. Prego has a small but quite exciting list of wines. This restaurant has an amazing service abounding in smiles and propped up by a high level of training. Truly, a world-class experience!
